How can I train at a faster runner?

I'm thirteen (do not know if that helps, but whatev), and have long legs considering I short it. I like to run, and as the races, and I'm usually a little faster, I suppose, but I want to be faster. I'm not talking about sprint, I'm talking actual performance. Legweights and know that help, but I have none and C an't afford, so there is a way to improvise / legweights make your own? What are some exercises, good (sp?) To make legs and / or stronger than ABS? Any tips for running faster? Maybe I should diet, so can be clearer? I am a little overweight (average 110-120 for my height is like, and I'm 130 and almost no muscle mass, either XD). Are there things I should eat certified as maybe apples and other fruits? Or should eat more meat for Protien? I drink lots of milk, too. Does that help? I drink about eight glasses of milk a day.

I am a runner myself and I learned that the abdominals and core are very important to become stronger, faster and have more resistance. You can do several exercises to improve. A great drill is to sit in the back straight and lift your legs up from the ground. I usually do about 20 of these below, squats and push-ups and really helps me! good luck!
