Supersets for Fast Results

Here is the question:

Basically I lost about 40 pounds in the past 6 months. My goal at the beginning was to get rid of the belly fat, assess the situation and then most likely begin the process of bulking. Stomach fat is the most unsightly and also the most unhealthy. I gave up drinking a few months ago, I think much of the fat I lost was because I stopped drinking.

A typical meal plan:

  • 630 am two eggs, oatmeal, rasins 7 450 cals
  • 830 am two scoops, bowl of cereal 600
  • 10 am, greek yogurt and fruit 150 cals
  • 12 sandwich with lots of meat, piece of fruit 550
  • 230 cottage cheese 220 cals
  • 530 10oz chicken/beef, salad or veg 550 cals
  • 730 2 scoops 220 cals
  • 2750 cals/ ~260gm or protein

I am currently between 11-12 percent body fat. I work weights 3x per week and cardio 2x per week. My diet is in check eating 1 gram of protein per pound and overall great fresh food. I am eating around 2500 cals per day but probably need to kick that up a few hundred as my energy and workouts are not exactly inspired lately. I am concerned about losing any more muscle mass. I workout with weights but my legs and arms are getting thin, and I know it’s not easy to replace that muscle. Should I cut the cardio to preserve the muscle? Basically, I need to reach my goal and get rid of this final blob of fat on my belly.

Here our the answer:

Hi Matt

Sounds like you have already reached quite a few of your goals! That last bit of stomach fat is a “£$%& to get rid of, so do not lose hope :) I would change up my routine a bit if I was you.

Consider changing your workout a bit. Remember the body get’s lazy if you do the same stuff over and over. Keep on surprising your muscles with new moves, you will see and feel the difference. Also focus on your core muscles and maybe work in a few supersets every now and again.

I also think its time you bulk a bit. Get some quality supplements to help you out with that, something like 100% pure Whey will do the trick. Also, remember if your legs are getting thin it could just be bad fat being replaced by lean muscle, not a bad thing at all!
